The Competition between the smart phones was very less in the year 2007-08, with one smart phone dominating the world in advanced devices was the iPhone versions. But, the world turns around right, with the Android 1.0 launching on 23rd September 2008 and later after 3 years, putting up a tough competition to the present smart phones, launching advanced versions of Androids, like from the Cupcake, the Donut, the éclair, the Froyo, the Gingerbreadand the Honeycomb, not leaving the Astro and the Bender, the Ice Cream Sandwich version, now stands presently.
But for now we will see the differences between the two new, the best Android versions, which are “The Android Gingerbread” and “The Android Ice Cream Sandwich”, anyway a winner is already selected, but let’s see what are the features and performances that these two android versions differ.
Firstly let’s see its User Interface (UI):
Every smart phone needs a good and impressive User Interface, so Google has just done that by going for improved UI in Ice Cream Sandwich. This sleek UI will make users find that commonly used buttons easier in the Ice Cream Sandwich where it tops the UI compared to Gingerbread. Not this sleeker UI but the 720p HD display also adds the list, making Animations and video play nice and for further more to be in the top, Google  introduced a new font “Roboto”, giving Android users a modern and easier reading feel.
Google has made sure the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, will be on top of the list for a long some time and the developers has added an extra punch, the “Roboto” font that has been introduced to the Ice Cream Sandwich, will make the users see the new font from everything like, the websites, the emails and the SMS being used and no doubt it is already looking great on the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0. So, coming to the Multitasking it has upgraded its System Bar, we mean the Ice Cream Sandwich, and the users of the Honeycomb can see the similarities. The easy switching inside of an App shows thumbnail images where you are a step away from swiping it to switch to other apps. This switching also applies to browser tabs and the notifications.
With the Widgets, you can re-seize them and having a full page of widgets dedicating to Gmail, you can do it now on the Ice Cream Sandwich. The Folder creation is now a easy task on your Android 4.0 and it resembles the iOS’s folder drag and drop method, where you can simply create a folder in the Ice Cream Sandwich and use the drag and drop method to put your android apps in it.
The Third, the Network Data Manager (NDM):
This Network Data Manager, provided by Google in the Ice Cream Sandwich is a good solution to the android users, as wireless providers are just charging a nightmare on usage of lesser data. This Data manager monitors your total usage of data and applications by any network type that you have, as this makes it easier to you that how much of data provided by your network that you are using and even gives an option on limiting your data use, it’s great right.
Definitely not a good news for the network carriers, and a win for all android users. An added feature of this Network Data Manager app is it displays the data usage with graphs and the info is easy to understand, you need to try this wonderful android app.

Using the Gingerbread version, when you want to send an app or a share video to the person next to you, you need to email. With the new Camera app in your Ice Cream sandwich android 4.0, you now “photoshop” your friend’s pictures. Like, morphing and giving funny faces and with the “Silly Faces” option available in it, you can even change or customize the backgrounds and also put some effects like, putting up a big mouth, a big nose, squeezing the face and making small eyes, wonderful right, and you can transform your human friend to an alien.
Are you into Video chatting? Well, with the “Google Talk” app, you now easily do that. And are you frustrated of annoying friends who often peep into your phone? The android has provided an advanced solution for that, with the “Face Unlock”, your smart android phone is only accessible, with your face recognition only. Isn’t that good, your face unlocks your android smart phone.
The Sixth, we have the Improved Speed:
On comparing the Ice Cream sandwich to the Gingerbread, Google managed to speed up the Ice Cream sandwicha bit faster. But Gingerbread in terms of speed was a huge update compared to the older android versions.
Let’s see, when run on Nexus S device, there was a 220% improvement in speed in android 4.0 browser comparing it to the V8 which was using android 2.3 browser and was 35% more when compared to SunSpider 9.1. But, when run on Galaxy Nexus Deviceusing android 4.0 browser it showed a remarkable improvement of 550% against the V8 benchmarkers and a 70% on SunSpider javascript benchmarkers.
This made Ice Cream sandwich improve its email option better, with auto-completion, integrated menu with nested mail subfolders and quick responses and a resizable Email Widget as mentioned earlier. Finally, some Extra Goodies:
With the Wi-Fi Direct, instant sharing of Pictures, Files and other medias and connecting to printers or other compatible devices and audio-video streaming makes it easy to use in the Ice Cream sandwich version.
